VIBRIS is a wearable sensor designed to ensure the safety of individuals with hearing impairments and facilitate smoother communication. Impaired hearing is associated with accidental injuries and communication difficulty leading to learning difficulties and falling victim to criminal activity. VIBRIS offers two modes, the alert mode and the communication mode. In the alert mode, the device detects unusual or suspicious sounds and notify the users by vibrating one side of the device. Allowing the hearing impaired individual to become aware of their surroundings. Meanwhile, communication mode offers real-time text transcription of nearby speech through the VIBRIS app, which can improve daily interaction and ultimately improve quality of life and education.

The design of VIBRIS is inspired by the trend of Bluetooth earphones and earcuffs. The smooth, curved design of the product minimizes discomfort during extended wear, while the ear tips—designed to fit snugly inside the ear—prevent slippage, allowing the device to stay securely in place with minimal effort. The simple, gorpcore-inspired design, combined with a variety of colors, makes VIBRIS a fashion accessory for hearing impaired individuals that also serves a purpose. Allowing these individuals to participate in the latest fashion trend without compromising their safety.
