FINGO: Interactive music rehabilitation for children.
Hand-finger rehabilitation is very important for children with neurological diseases, orthopedic injuries, and developmental delays. Early intervention is especially important, as the period when neuroplasticity is highest in childhood, so missing this period can limit functional recovery. However, most existing rehabilitation devices are designed for adults, making it difficult for children to participate steadily. These often rely on repetitive and monotonous practice, which does not motivate young users.
FINGO addresses these challenges by turning therapy into an interactive and musical experience. Inspired by the four instruments: Trumpet, Castanet, Maracas, and others, FINGO encourages children to press, hold, shake and tear to fit the therapeutic hand and finger movements. Integrated with rhythm-based games, the device allows children to 'play' music while exercising, turning repetitive rehabilitation into fun and sensory activity.
By combining play, music, and therapy, FINGO promotes long-term engagement and supports functional recovery. This treatment provides an innovative approach to pediatric rehabilitation, making therapeutic exercise enjoyable while taking advantage of the benefits of early neurodevelopment.
