kyn is an innovative wearable solution that enhances the performance of amateur racket sports players based on the analysis of their body movement data. Unlike conventional heavy and cumbersome exoskeleton robots, it proposes a lightweight, sleeve-type hardware that can be easily worn in everyday situations.
The core device, the “Mono-Arm Sleeve,” wraps around the user’s dominant shoulder and arm, featuring a flexible actuation mechanism that utilizes spool motors and elastic strings. The strings, arranged along the natural flow of muscles, precisely control or assist arm movement depending on motor operation, enabling a stable swing without the need for a rigid frame.
This system performs real-time, high-precision analysis of the user’s motion and swing trajectory through IMU sensors embedded in the shoulder, elbow, and back of the hand. Based on this data, it helps prevent injuries such as tennis elbow by limiting excessive wrist extension, and during impact, it adjusts string tension to guide a more accurate hitting posture. Users receive intuitive correction through auditory feedback via wireless earphones and haptic feedback from the sleeve, creating an experience similar to being coached by a professional.
Furthermore, kyn offers a “Power Enhancer” function that stores and releases energy during serves to maximize power, as well as ‘an immersive virtual training mode’ integrated with VR devices. Through a dedicated app, it also monitors joint range of motion (ROM) and overall condition, providing early warnings of injury risks. Going beyond simple data tracking, kyn acts as a true smart coach, enabling systematic and continuous skill improvement.
