The Secant Luminous Panel utilizes µLEDs mounted on a flexible PCB, allowing it to match the contours of the aircraft panel it is incorporated in. The µLED pixels will be configured as RGB for display functions, White only for lighting functions, or as RGB+W for cases where the panel may be used as both. The full spectral content offered by the RGB+W solution can aid passenger comfort by keeping the lighting adjusted to improve sleep, improve the appearance of the cabin through high CRI content, and provide opportunities for airlines to uniquely and flexibly brand their aircraft. The Lighting and Integrated Systems group is developing the panel in conjunction with the Rockwell Collins Composites division to integrate the panels into the cabin ceiling, bins and galley walls.
