Global warming is causing glaciers to melt and sea levels to rise, which is affecting earthquakes and tsunamis, as well as other unexpected disasters like typhoons. The loss of homes due to such catastrophic events is a serious problem for many people. While it will take time to restore the damaged environment, there is a limited capacity to accommodate people immediately, and the need for urgent shelters in extreme weather conditions is increasing. This has a direct impact on human lives. DOOROOM is a mobile shelter product designed to address the need for housing and resting spaces in disaster situations. By combining the elements of a “DOOR” and a “ROOM,” DOOROOM maximizes the utilization of space for emergency shelters. Through the interface provided by the product, individuals in need of shelter can mark their location and call for a DOOROOM. It is also possible to summon multiple DOOROOM units that are installed in different regions. In emergencies where traffic congestion occurs, the product autonomously navigates between vehicles, quickly reaching the location of the person in need of shelter. Upon arriving at the disaster site, the product expands into a shelter, providing four individual spaces surrounded by tents.
