Armed with Doritos®, Cheetos®, Tostitos® and Lay’s®, we wanted to introduce attendees to Frito-Lay’s industrially compostable packaging material. Certified by the Biodegradable Products Institute, these limited edition packs were our MVP — and what better way to celebrate a big win for sustainability than at the big game. With the new industrially compostable material as a starting point, we designed a special unified set of bags that could easily team up while still representing each unmistakable brand on its own turf. Plus, we leaned into the unbeatable Super Bowl LVIII setting of Las Vegas, where gaming and glamour are always in the cards. Our new illustrations incorporate bold linework, catchy colors and redrawn logos with Vegas flair, featuring a different playing card suit for each chip brand. As an extra point, we added a unique twist to each brand, such as a pattern of potato vines and blossoms on the special Lay’s bag. To encourage proper disposal of the industrially compostable bags, we created bins that look like giant playing card boxes. Tossing a bag in the bin caused the box to light up and its casino chimes to play a tune perfect for a tasty touchdown dance.
