Umbrellas should ideally be separated and disposed of according to their material. However, many people are unaware of this or struggle to do so due to a lack of knowledge or difficulty in disassembly. As a result, broken umbrellas are often discarded entirely, even for minor damage, leading to excessive consumption and waste. Our product is a modular umbrella made from eco-friendly, biodegradable materials. Its design allows users to easily disassemble and replace parts, reducing unnecessary waste. This encourages repairing and reusing rather than discarding, while also enabling customization to foster a deeper attachment to the product. By allowing targeted repairs, the umbrella promotes sustainability over disposability and supports proper recycling and disposal, creating a virtuous cycle of environmentally conscious use. The project name, After Rain Comes, is inspired by the saying, “After the rain, the ground hardens.” It reflects our commitment to addressing the environmental issues associated with umbrellas and proposing a design that provides practical, long-term solutions. The name also conveys a positive image of cleanliness and responsibility, symbolizing a well-organized environment after the rain.
