Our product is a module that can monitor the infusion status of patients. Traditional IV systems require nurses to check each patient individually since they cannot monitor the IV status when away from the patient. This leads to patients being unsure if their infusion is proceeding correctly when the nurse is not present. Therefore, whenever there is an issue with the IV, the patient's anxiety significantly increases. Moreover, this increases the workload and stress of the nurses, ultimately negatively impacting both patients and nurses. To address these issues, our smart IV monitoring module was developed. This module can be attached to existing IV stands and uses infrared sensors to intuitively display infusion rate, remaining time, and completion status to both patients and nurses. It also provides replacement time alerts. Additionally, it sends immediate warnings in case of blood backflow risk, ensuring patient safety. This system significantly reduces patient anxiety and decreases the workload and stress of medical staff who no longer need to check IV status in person. It can serve as a model for the adoption of smart medical devices in hospitals.
