Observing constellations is to be a shared experience with the people you are with. Yet with traditional telescopes, only those who make eye contact with the eyepiece can see the stars, making it impossible to see constellations with people who are together. To solve this, I designed Constellar, a smart telescope for camping that allows us to see the stars together and create an atmosphere of being together. Unlike one-way telescopes, Constellar accepts starlight through a lens and sends starlight to a mobile device or uses a beam projector to illuminate the surroundings with starlight. It is easy to see the starlight because there is no act of focusing with eyes on the eyepiece, and because it is easy to see the starlight on the big screen in conjunction with mobile devices and beam projectors, users can observe the constellation with anyone who comes to enjoy camping.
