Our mission was to create fun interactive clock faces that inspire and challenge kids to develop healthy habits. The characters evolve over the course of the day as each step coaxes a seedling to bloom into a beautiful flower, or perhaps culminating in a rocket launch to the moon. The characters spring to life off-screen as well, as the 2D UI’s become 3D animations that playfully interact with the Ace 2. The color and materials of the 3D characters match the device, bridging the digital and physical design elements. Fred the purple step monster is so enthralled with the tracker that he even jumps inside! By building on the UI designs, these animations continue the design story of Ace 2 as a fun, interactive way to learn healthy habits and achieve goals. Inspired by the UI design, a cross functional team of designers took it upon themselves to truly bring these characters to life. This side-project was done in their spare time, and anyone with a desire to contribute was welcomed to participate. The result pushes the boundaries of traditional Industrial Design Visualization, and shows what can happen when creative teams are encouraged to share, collaborate, inspire, and be inspired.
