Most of the Blind rely on touch when they recognize something. But, there are a lot of things that cannot or hard to know by touching. (like salt and sugar/shampoo and conditioner/many medicine packages) Medicines and foods can be dangerous and sometimes critical to them if the one has a health problem. If they can label those confusing things, it must be helpful to prevent dangerous situations. VI is a braille label maker for the blind. VI develops an existing braille maker by combining with the typing method of the smartphone keyboard. Existing braille maker needs to put every pin in plate manually. In contrast, Smartphone users just type the word and click the ‘enter’ button to send their message. Like this way, the blind press 6-buttons of VI and click the ‘enter’ button. And then, embossed braille is printed on the label. It is very simple and easy. It can make them print and attach braille labels whatever they want. Also, 6-buttons of VI can express every braille without the restriction of language or sign. So the blind around the world can use it without changing modules or learning other languages.

JUDGES COMMENTS:

Lisa Sullivan— "This package design was so completely practical, yet quite attractive. It is a great idea to utilize custom printing for medicine storage for the blind. The work exemplifies how new technologies continue to improve the daily lives of people living with disabilities. Nice to see a new generation in the design community furthering this good work."
