The Arts Alliance Mobile Performance Venue (MPV), designed by Various Architects, will house the cinematic performance “ID - Identity of the Soul” in a worldwide tour starting in 2009. “ID” is based on poems by Henrik Ibsen and Mahmoud Darwish, performed on five 12 meter wide HD video projection screens enhanced with live dancers, light effects, and surround sound. A standing crowd of 3500 can experience the performance in the central performance space. A dynamic oval shape with twisting facades, the MPV is designed around the special requirements of “ID” and to be as lightweight and easily transportable as possible. A unique, inflatable, and 100% recyclable hexagonal skin covers 3900m2 of enclosed or partially enclosed space that contains all the necessary program to make the installation self-contained on any site. The project packs into 30 standard 40’ shipping containers for travel (a 96% reduction in volume) and can be fully assembled on-site in 2 weeks.
