Herman Miller is one of the first companies to establish cradle-to-cradle policies in its manufacturing plants and recycling is a key criteria for it products. Teneo is Silver certified, with products ranging from 86% to 99% recyclable. At the end of its life, every part of Teneo can be separated and recycled: there are no glues, no co-injections, no PVC's. As importantly perhaps, Teneo can be re-purposed throughout its lifetime. Teneo has a 12 year warranty and one can imagine a much longer life. That being said, we learned that facilities often throw storage out if they cannot adapt to new needs and environments. This was key to our designing the new system to be re-purposable, offering the ability to change its function and to refresh its look and materials overtime. Teneo has 20 parts that make up its 80+ products. From Herman Miller's perspective it is a relatively economical investment, but one that generates a rich and very flexible product offering.
