Some patients cannot use their upper body so they always need an assistance to ride a wheelchair. Some other patients, on the other hand, can use their upper body and they have the ability to move from bed to wheelchair or vice versa by themselves. However, unfortunately ordinary wheelchairs are not friendly for that purpose. Even for the patients who can fully use their upper body, moving from bed to wheelchair is not an easy task. They often struggle and need help of others or any other device to get on the wheelchair. ezSlide is a low-cost and user-centered wheelchair enabling the patient who has relatively available upper body to transfer from wheelchair to bed without help of an assistant or any other device. There are two main aspects to explain what makes this an excellent design solution: cost and look-and-feel. First, considering production and maintenance cost, the suggested retail price of ezSlide is $350 (USD).
