To redefine the retail stores of Carlo Pazolini, we began with a 386 square meter flagship location in Milan. Cells, in a network of shelving and seating, form large, semi-ordered compositions, tracing out pathways in metal tubing or dashed wood strips. The shelving system peels away from a plaster wall, shaped by existing cast-iron columns. Reinforcing this synthesis of old and new, the shelving and seating cells use a glue-less molding process, which bonds natural wool felt with the polymer at a molecular level, thus forming a new structural composite.
