The Defibtech Lifeline VIEW AED is the first and only Automated External Defibrillator to provide a full-color, full-motion video display. Other AEDs tell a user what to do, but the Lifeline VIEW also clearly shows the user what to do. Does the Lifeline VIEW AED improve quality of life? The Lifeline VIEW AED saves lives! Virtually every day in America, an automated external defibrillator (AED) enables someone with little or no medical training to save the life of another human being afflicted by sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). This fact makes SCA unique among other leading causes of death such as heart attack, stroke and cancer – afflictions requiring interventions from medical professionals. Yet, studies show that SCA survival rates have remained around only 8 percent for the past 30 years. SCA survival remains at 8 percent of 380,000 annual victims in America primarily because they do not receive shocks quickly enough from an AED. Providing bystanders with easy-to-use AEDs is essential toward improving the SCA survival rate. Survey data compiled by Defibtech and Harris Interactive showed that AED instruction with video, text and diagrams would increase rescuers’ confidence. Of those surveyed, 59 percent expressed confidence in using a basic AED with audio instruction. Adding video, text and diagram displays to an AED increased their confidence up to 95 percent. So, what did Defibtech do? Defibtech designed an AED with not only clear and concise audio prompts, but also with full-motion, full-color video, diagrams and text instructions. The easier it is to use an AED, the faster a victim is defibrillated, thus increasing the chance of survival and saving more lives. Does the Lifeline VIEW AED “break new ground”? The Lifeline VIEW AED is the only external defibrillator that integrates video, voice, pictures and text to help save the life of a sudden cardiac arrest victim. During an emergency, the Lifeline VIEW AED guides a rescuer through each step of defibrillation and CPR like no other AED on the market, literally showing and telling the rescuer what to do to save a life. For example, when the VIEW’s voice prompt says, “Place pads on patient’s chest,” the video shows the rescuer exactly where and how to place the pads. The ability to watch video and hear instructions recited in a calm voice makes the Lifeline VIEW more like a patient coach – a partner when trying to save a life. For example performing CPR can be intimidating as the user tries to remember all the proper steps, but CPR is an essential component to save the life of a victim of Sudden Cardiac Arrest. While in the middle of the rescue, the user might not remember how many compressions to provide and the timing between each one. The Lifeline VIEW has a built-in metronome that counts out the beat and the video that performs CPR alongside the user, so the user knows what to do and when to do it. Is the Lifeline VIEW AED a “big idea”? The Lifeline VIEW AED is a big idea in a small package. The technological challenge that Defibtech faced was to make a complicated device as easy to use as possible. In designing the Lifeline VIEW, Defibtech made an unprecedented leap in the feature set of an affordable AED and put it in a smaller case than the original Lifeline AED. The Lifeline VIEW AED – at only three pounds – is light enough for children or the elderly to lift and properly deploy and is significantly lighter than the competition. The device measures 7.3” x 9.5” x 2.3”, smaller than a standard box of cereal. What are the outstanding features of this “big idea? • Video and text prompts reinforce voice prompts, effectively providing three modes of instruction. • Color LCD displays full-motion instructional videos and allows non-medically trained users to view the status of the unit, perform maintenance and access additional instructions. • Video and text prompts aid in comprehension, especially in noisy environments. • Video, text and voice prompts include not only all of the steps for preparing the patient and administering a defibrillation shock, but also include instructions for performing CPR and rescue breathing, which are essential components of a SCA rescue. • Two-button operation makes the unit simple and intuitive to use. • Pre-connected defibrillation pads in easily accessible storage slot make pads instantly deployable. • Actively illuminated status indicator shows unit readiness. • Real-world rugged design with no lids or movable parts to break or confuse. • Highly visible yellow color makes the unit easy to locate. • Rubberized surfaces enhance grip even in wet conditions. • Light and compact unit makes use and storage convenient. • Automatic self-testing, without user interaction, assures unit readiness. • Tested to rugged US military standards for shock and vibration, which include ground transport, jet aircraft and helicopter environments. • Highly resistant to dust and water. • Most extensively tested defibrillation therapy waveform, providing patients with the best therapy available. Does the Lifeline VIEW AED “design our future”? The Lifeline VIEW AED has raised the bar for Automated External Defibrillators and there is no looking back. Just like cell phones made a quantum leap to become smart phones, the Lifeline VIEW AED has changed the face of Automated External Defibrillators. There has not been advancement in AED technology comparable to the features of the Lifeline VIEW since the initial introduction of the portable AED. The AED has become commoditized and few companies are investing in R&D to improve the product or research new technology. Previously, all AEDs provided more or less the same features at competitive prices. As a result of the introduction of the Lifeline VIEW, full-color, full-motion videos will likely become the standard for all other AED products on the marketplace. The Lifeline VIEW has created a new benchmark when it comes to AEDs, providing much needed improvements to the device overall. Does the Lifeline VIEW AED “Spark”? The Lifeline VIEW AED doesn’t just spark – it shocks!
