Escalators used these days often do not have marks separating one step from another. Those that simply adopt color to distinguish one step from another are still ineffective in letting users be aware of the boundary of a step. Consequently, escalators can often lead to accidents when people place their feet across two steps and lose balance as the escalator moves and the height of the two steps gradually change. Separating the steps on an escalator with raised spot, ‘Raised spot escalator’ is a universal design that allows users to become aware of the steps by sensation when stepping on an escalator leading them to place their feet securely inside a step.
