The new Ionic™ Purification System from Purigen produces higher yields of pure, ready-to-sequence nucleic acids in one hour with less than three minutes of hands-on time per sample. Our design work began by identifying an optimized user experience workflow and overall product architecture. These were crucial to establishing a solid base for our industrial design and color/material/finish explorations. The chosen design direction consists of outer housing shells that "protect" the inner core elements. The exaggerated part gaps create a dynamic gesture that emphasizes the function and articulation of the individual components, while tying the overall form together. In the lab environment, these systems are typically located on open benches, often seen from all sides. For branding recognition, we applied a bold accent of Cyan as well as Purigen's logo to the rear panel.
