The objective of this project was to solve problems in dog raising 1-person households. Canine animals’ anxiety disorders are rooted in a prolonged period of caretakers' absence. Due to 1-person households' small living spaces, caretakers shared living environment with companion animals, causing sanitary problems. Inspired by the pain points, Puro was designed. When a companion animal takes rest on a pet bed shaped station, dual-cyclone motors embedded in the robot get connected to the air intake of the station. They take in hair and odor of animals quietly. The air taken inside the station flows through layers of HEPA filter, filtering clean air back to the place. When the companion animal is on the station, a pressure sensor embedded in the cushion detects it, stopping the robot from other operations. When a caretaker leaves behind companion animal alone, Puro plays fetch by tossing over treats from its treat container. You can manually operate the robot or specify the playtime via mobile application. You can monitor your pet through the frontal camera sensor, which is originally used to detect obstacles on the floor. After the play, Puro cleans up the crumbs and animal hair with its robotic vacuum cleaning function.
