There are 20,000 child abuse cases in Korea and 77% of the assailants are reported to be parents; child abuse is still highlighted as a serious social issue. Due to the patriarchal recognition of children belonging to parents and social and cultural traits that emphasized strict discipline upon children, we have a relatively low social awareness of child protection issues compared to other developed countries. Considering that many children in Korea spend a lot of time with their teachers at private cram institutes after school, our team proposes the OWOL app to guide users toward the correct perceptions of child abuse. This app was designed to be taken advantage of by school teachers, guardians of private educational institutions and parents. This app provides 1)child abuse case quizzes and information on how to make reports, 2)information on efforts required from children and parents to prevent abuse and how treatment for such situations is carried out, and 3)a diary function to record parents’ psychology to help them spend quality time with children as well as 4) professional counseling services or a place to share opinions with other parents in similar situations in the child abuse community.
