Movan is a product designed to remove a type of seaweed called Sargassum. Influx of massive sargassum on beaches have devastated coastal countries in Caribbean. Current strategy is to set barriers out on ocean to block and collect with boats or use tractors to collect sargassum that piled up on beach. Problem arise on nearshore area where tractor nor boat can maneuver. Movan is a light-weight floating device designed to maneuver through clump of sargassum in near shore area. Design consideration includes its operating environment, efficiency for removing large amount of sargassum and remote operation because rotting sargassum emits foul odor which can cause irritation. Movan moves forward with air propulsion with propeller to solve problem of entangling with sargassum. Its flat bottom design helps stabilize the movement. Collection box is modularized to save time between dumping collected sargassum and enable continuous operation. Filter inside catches sargassum and let water flow through.
