Timing is important when treating adolescent psychological disabilities, as the impact of such disabilities may well continue into adulthood. However, access to psychological therapy is quite restricted in Korea owing to many cultural stigmas built up against mental counseling. Among various psychological therapies, art therapy is an effective non-verbal therapy used for those who are not so comfortable with verbal communication, allowing them to express themselves honestly. The existing art therapy apps only provide one-way drawing functions such as 'Mandala Coloring' and the apps also lack counseling functions. Our team therefore proposes the Maum Art Museum app. Our app provides functions such as 1) selection of a customized chatbot psychological therapists among various types of chatbot characters based on research data that target users will prefer self-psychological diagnosis as well as virtual or A.I. therapists rather than live human experts 2) various drawing tools such as 'Making a Collage' and 'Making a Self-portrait' that are not provided by existing art therapy apps, 3) and a ‘VR Museum’ that allows one to display one’s work and revisit their past descriptions of their works.
