Sponges are great for cleaning, which is why they are so ubiquitous in the kitchen. However, they are also excellent at harboring disease-causing bacteria like E. Coli and salmonella. Primi seeks to address this by providing an easy way for users to deep clean their sponge. Normally, the sponge-cleaning process requires taking out bleach, diluting it, and then submerging the sponge in a bucket. With this design, the bucket is built directly into the tray without impacting its form factor and the cleaning agent is provided by a single-dose, zero-waste dissolvable tablet. Given the aging of the global population, there is an increasing need for proper sanitization due to the susceptibility of older persons to illness. Additionally, the COVID-19 pandemic has reminded us that proper protocols against pathogens can really save lives.
