"Project Pulse" focuses on increasing the engagement between the performer and the performance routine. This project fuses multiple art form - Music, light display, dance choreography and moving pictures – into a single performance display. With the incorporation of sensor technology, the performer is able to dictate the sequencing and pacing of the performance – enabling a non-linear performance. This aims to bring about a new and unpredictable way of experiencing a visual art performance. The use of sensors to trigger the changes is made possible with the use of Cycling ‘74’s Max MSP visual programming and Arduino programming. With this use of Arduino and MaxMSP, this sensory based performance prototype strives to establish a new form of performance into the industry, to present a unique and creative approach in engaging both the audience and performer.
