According to the records in "Yuanye," a book written in the Ming Dynasty, the essential element of landscaping in Chinese classical gardens is to stack mountains and rocks. If there are rocks, there will be landscaping. The tradition of relying on stones to create landscaping can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty. I applied the Taihu stones' characteristics which are skinny, lots of holes, wrinkled, and concavity, to my vase design and tried to create an impression similar to the stones and mountains.
