Luminar is the first LiDAR company to bring design to automotive safety sensor technology. Our mission is to enable next-generation safety in partnership with global automotive brands Volvo, Mercedes-Benz and Polestar. Luminar Halo is our most advanced LiDAR, driving step-change improvement in performance, vehicle integration and cost. Designed by Luminar from the chip-up, Halo is significantly smaller, lighter, and boasts more thermal efficiency over its predecessor. Luminar Halo represents the future of safety fueling our world-changing mission: Saving 100 million lives and 100 trillion hours over the next 100 years. With LiDAR, we often picture sensors atop autonomous robotaxis resembling spinning KFC buckets that aim to replace the driver–Luminar has a different approach. To have the most impact on global safety, our strategy is not to eliminate, but to enhance the driver. Automotive sensors aren’t aesthetically considered since they are often covered by body panels. Luminar Halo is the first LiDAR sensor designed where the technology could be visually exposed and celebrated. Luminar Halo is more sustainable and power-efficient providing 4x improvement in performance, 2x improvement in thermal efficiency and is nearly 1/3 of the size and weight with near-zero coefficient of drag.
