HEARO is a neckband-type device with an application service that converts auditory information (such as the direction or volume of sound) into tactile information and delivers it to the body for people who have difficulty hearing sound. We receive information and detect risks from various stimulations, but people with hearing impediment have many problems in their daily lives and are vulnerable to dangerous situations. HEARO gently presses the user's neck to indicate the direction of sound with 13 pointers positioned in 360 degrees, and the volume of sound is delivered through the intensity of the pressure. In addition, in dangerous situations where a sound exceeding a certain level of decibel occurs, it warns through strong vibrations. The LED light mounted on the product informs the user's location at night when it is vulnerable to danger. Users can adjust the light brightness and pointers’ pressure intensity through the HEARO app. HEARO is designed similarly to neckband-type products on the market, considering discriminatory views and prejudices against people with disabilities. We hope hearing-impaired people live a more comfortable life and escape from dangerous situations through the HEARO.
