Wildfires are becoming more frequent and severe due to climate change, threatening both ecosystems and nearby communities. After a wildfire, steep mountain slopes often suffer from extreme soil erosion, increased landslide risk, and long-term environmental degradation. Existing emergency recovery methods—such as log terraces or mulching—are often labor-intensive, inflexible, or ineffective on complex terrain. We propose a modular erosion control solution that can be rapidly deployed in areas damaged by wildfires. This lightweight, portable system can be carried and installed by hand without special tools, making it ideal for field workers and local communities. Once installed, the modules interlock to follow contour lines, reducing runoff velocity and stabilizing the slope. This minimizes soil loss, prevents secondary disasters, and supports early-stage vegetation recovery. By enabling non-experts to participate in slope stabilization, the project encourages collaboration between people and nature. Furthermore, the modular system is adaptable to different terrains and reusable across multiple sites, promoting long-term sustainability. This project presents a holistic post-disaster design solution that prioritizes environmental protection and long-term sustainability.
