Following the success of the award-winning Mirai project, Andrea Steidl returns with Amama, a modular sofa created for Natuzzi Italia to redefine the way we live, interact, and relax. Its name, a palindromic metaphor for symmetry and duality, reflects the sofa’s multidirectional and bifacial character, perfectly suited for open-plan spaces and modern lifestyles. Amama is a design where comfort meets structure—soft seating elements contrast with cantilevered, solid components that double as shelves, tables, or storage. These multifunctional armrests and backrests become active elements in the space, supporting dynamic use and flexible composition. The project prioritizes not only aesthetic and formal value but also function, enabling moments of reading, socializing, or solitude with equal ease. Rooted in architectural analysis and contemporary living patterns, Amama encourages a more liberated, inclusive, and personalized home experience. The modular system is also available for contract applications, meeting the needs of hospitality and public spaces with the same elegance and adaptability. Through a thoughtful mix of materials, layering, and geometry, Amama offers an elevated design experience where conviviality, functionality, and freedom of use converge in a compelling and sustainable solution.
