Environ Ecdysis is based on my story of living in a stable and familiar environment for a long time. I have lived in stable and orderly life, performing given roles, and existing in harmony with others’ expectations. However, I have gradually realized that my identity as ‘me’ is disappearing within it. This exhibition visually unravels the external environment that has shaped me and the internal conflict of trying to escape it, centered on the concept of environmental determinism. Each work reveals the tension between conformity and escape, stability and anxiety, belonging and isolation. The process of escape shows a journey of dismantling and reconstructing to escape from familiarity and find my own self. Environ Ecdysis is not a denial of the past, but an attempt to redefine life based on myself, not external conditions. This exhibition suggests viewers to look back on their environment and think together about finding their own identity.
