South Korea's haenyeo is of high cultural value enough to be listed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2016. However, most of them are elderly people in their 60s or older, and they are very vulnerable to various accidents as they enter the sea without equipment such as an oxygen respirator and hold their breath for about 3 to 5 minutes to collect seafood. In particular, there are no special measures in place despite the environment in which it is difficult to quickly rescue in the event of an emergency. Accordingly, we propose an emergency rescue product called 'Segnal' to support the safe material activities of haenyeo. Seagnal combines a timer function that guides the breathing time and diving time required for a haenyeo to perform a rescue call by generating smoke for rescue signals on the surface of the water in case of an emergency. This allows haenyeo to receive quick rescue within golden time, and more safely continue their traditional material culture.
