Peak Pouch is a sustainable, portable trash bag dispenser created to address the growing litter problem in South Korea’s national parks, where trash bins have been removed to protect natural ecosystems. This change, though well-intentioned, led to inconvenience for visitors and increased illegal dumping. Peak Pouch offers a practical and eco-conscious solution, helping users manage their waste responsibly during hikes. Crafted from upcycled wood and plastic waste collected directly from national parks, it transforms environmental burden into functional value. Each product incorporates the name and signature colors of the specific park, deepening the user’s emotional connection to the place they visited. The design takes inspiration from the elegant curves of Baengnokdam Crater at the summit of Hallasan Mountain, combining aesthetic sensitivity with ergonomic form. A strap allows it to be attached to bags or belts, while side magnets make it easy to store at home. Distributed through forest conservation campaigns or sold as a meaningful souvenir, Peak Pouch not only supports zero-waste goals but also promotes sustainable habits in everyday life. It encourages visitors to reflect on their role in preserving nature and carry those values with them—both literally and symbolically—long after their trip ends.
