'Bondi' is a playground patrol robot designed to connect children who are isolated from play with their peers in a gentle and natural way. Its name comes from blending the words 'bond' and 'isolated kid,' representing its mission to create emotional bridges and encourage inclusion. Bondi observes the dynamics of the playground and recognizes children who may seem withdrawn or left out. When it detects a need, it approaches with a warm presence and encourages participation through gentle interaction. It operates in different modes depending on the situation. The Play Leader Mode activates when group play is needed, helping energize children and lead activities. In more sensitive moments, Bondi shifts into Assist Mode, which includes both friendly and emergency responses. The Friendly Mode focuses on building emotional connection and trust through soft gestures and expressions, while the Help Mode allows Bondi to recognize urgent situations and alert nearby adults calmly and efficiently. With its smooth, friendly design and child-centered height, Bondi doesn't just monitor playgrounds it becomes part of them. It supports every child not only as a playmate but as a quiet guide toward inclusion, empathy, and safety.
