Pluffy is a specially designed puppy-shaped doll created to help ease my mother’s insomnia by providing a sense of comfort and relaxation. The idea comes from a cherished childhood memory, where hugging her dog helped her feel calm and fall asleep more easily. Inspired by this experience, Pluffy brings back that soothing sensation in a new, innovative form. At the heart of Pluffy are air pouches hidden inside its soft body that simulate gentle, rhythmic breathing. This subtle motion allows my mother to synchronize her own breathing with the doll, encouraging relaxation and helping to slow down her mind and body before sleep. The design utilizes the natural calming influence of breathing exercises with the emotional warmth of hugging a beloved pet. Pluffy isn’t simply a doll, it’s a comforting friend that joins memories of the past with the needs of the present. Soft and cuddly as a stuffed animal, and with a similar breathing feature that helps to provide that soothing rhythm to reduce anxiety, and provide relief on those sleepless nights.
