Cosmi is a playful air-puff tonometer for children ages 3-8. Measuring intraocular pressure in children is essential for early diagnosis and treatment, but the current medical devices used are scary looking and cause children to resist them. This makes it difficult for them to cooperate during medical examinations and can lead to medical trauma. Especially since IOP changes with circadian rhythms, regular measurements are essential and require a child-friendly design that makes the process natural and repeatable. That's why we created a tonometer for kids that helps them make the appointment feel like play. With a telescope motif and a display with constellation graphics, Cosmi encourages children to feel like stargazers, making measuring IOP a natural and enjoyable experience without fear. Soft colors inspired by glow-in-the-dark stars, playful graphics and product shapes to ease children's psychological burden, and stickers with constellations to help them feel attached to the product, while also expressing the hope that they won't feel afraid. The integration of form, visuals, and feedback into one scenario—transforming dreaded medical examinations into an experience to look forward to—is Cosmi's key strategy.
