Wildfires spread rapidly in coniferous forests due to dense branches and resin, which accelerate flame propagation. Existing CCTV-based systems often fail to detect early fires deep within remote forest areas, missing the critical golden time for response. Nest Guard, a solar-powered IoT birdhouse, addresses this challenge by continuously monitoring temperature, humidity, and smoke in real time. Its rear surface features ridged contours that grip tree bark securely, while an adjustable strap allows quick, tool-free attachment to trunks of various shapes. A bottom ventilation inlet improves sensing accuracy by directing ambient air into the sensor chamber while shielding against rain. When fire signs are detected, Nest Guard instantly transmits GPS coordinates, video footage, and infrared images to fire authorities. This enables faster, data-driven decisions and more effective resource deployment. By providing birds with a safe nesting space while protecting forests from fire, Nest Guard demonstrates how the coexistence of nature and technology can lead to safer environments and a more resilient future.
