Yeowoobi is a modular shelter solution designed for refugees vulnerable to extreme heat. In many refugee camps, lack of electricity, cooling, and sanitation makes summer survival increasingly difficult. Yeowoobi offers a structural solution that provides cooling with minimal electricity. Its tarp surface is designed with a gentle slope and hydrophilic coating, allowing dew to condense naturally. The collected water flows into a central drain, passes through a basic purification filter, and is sprayed as a fine cooling mist (fog) using a manual pump. This closed-loop system helps lower the ambient temperature without reliance on powered cooling devices. What makes Yeowoobi unique is its modular adaptability — the shelter can expand and reshape based on the number of users and their activity needs. It supports a range of communal functions under its shade, including meals, education, and dialogue. Thus, Yeowoobi functions not only as a place of rest, but as a hub for connection and recovery. More than survival, Yeowoobi seeks to restore comfort, dignity, and everyday life through the language of design. https://youtu.be/RHbaCrMG1G8
