Turf Master is an innovative lawn management solution designed to solve two pressing challenges in modern stadiums: poor turf conditions due to climate change and the lack of engaging fan experiences. Developed by Team NEWRUN, the system features two main components: Turf Slave and Turf Ball. Turf Slave sensors are embedded beneath the field to collect temperature and humidity data in real time. The mobile Turf Ball moves across the turf, communicating with the sensors via RF and transmitting data to servers via Wi-Fi or TCP. At the same time, it disperses natural pest-repellent scents, offering an eco-friendly alternative to chemical pesticides. Beyond maintenance, the Turf Ball transforms into a fan-engagement tool. Its customizable exterior enables advertising, branding, and interactive game-based experiences, particularly appealing to family and youth audiences. With real-time monitoring, early warnings, and long-term data analytics, Turf Master empowers groundskeepers to prevent turf degradation before problems arise—ultimately reducing costs and labor. This system presents a new paradigm in sports infrastructure that fuses big data, sustainability, and fan participation.
