In South Korea, where the elderly face challenges in adapting to rapid technological changes, a tailored solution is proposed to integrate them seamlessly into modern services. Instead of developing a separate app, a physical taxi-calling station is designed with their needs in mind. This station features a non-interactive screen solely for display, recognizing that seniors may find touchscreen interfaces daunting. Instead, it offers large, tactile buttons and clear, animated instructions to simplify the process. For added support, there's a sturdy hold bar and wheelchair accessibility on a non-slip floor, ensuring safety and comfort. A speaker provides audible confirmation when calling a taxi, enhancing user confidence. To use the station, elderly users tap their senior transportation card, akin to existing metro and bus systems, to activate the service. They follow straightforward prompts using the keypads and physical buttons to request a taxi. Upon confirmation, a printed receipt displaying the taxi's details offers peace of mind, with cancellation effortlessly done by tapping the card again. By incorporating these thoughtful features, the station not only addresses the digital divide but also empowers elderly citizens by making modern transportation services accessible and user-friendly.
