The theme of my story, "The Squirrels of My School Campus," was sparked by my observation of squirrels behaving differently around my school in comparison to urban areas in Korea. In Korea, squirrels often face aggression from people who attempt to touch them, take their food, or harm them, leading squirrels to seek refuge in mountainous regions away from human activity. Conversely, around my school campus, both students and adults demonstrate a respectful attitude towards the local wildlife. We refrain from disturbing squirrels, leaving their food undisturbed, and preserving their habitats. This peaceful coexistence has fostered a welcoming environment for squirrels, resulting in a higher population around our campus. The story uses environmental color themes such as green and beige to vividly illustrate the natural habitats where squirrels thrive. Interactive elements like a spinning wheel provide engaging and educational graphics, enhancing children's understanding of wildlife conservation and respectful behavior towards animals. Through this narrative, I aim to educate young readers about the impact of human actions on wildlife and promote empathy and stewardship towards nature. By respecting and protecting wildlife, we can create environments where animals feel safe and thrive alongside humans.
