Bacou-Dalloz (now Sperian) invited Daedalus Excel to assist in the development of the next-generation Miller Fall Protection safety harness. A clean-sheet of paper, field research and collaboration-driven process ensued, with Daedalus Excel's designers and engineers working hand-in-hand with the Miller team. A wide variety of innovations were identified, improving ease-of-use, comfort, durability, style and manufacturability. The best of these ideas were incorporated into the Miller Revolution, a product that has 5 patents pending and 7 unique components that are firsts in the industry. The introductory sales budgets for the year were surpassed within 5 weeks of launch. Miller was able to expand the Revolution manufacturing cell from 9 to 33 employees and overall employment grew by 74 assemblers as well as adding 2nd and 3rd shifts. Several new customers were gained, including the military and new sales did not steal from existing product revenues. Development and manufacturing budgets were within 3% of target.
