Startup Nanopoint had developed revolutionary technology that enables researchers in biomedical laboratories and pharmaceutical companies to, for the first time, study small groups of living cells over extended periods of time. Previously, we designed Nanopoint’s cellTRAY®, a miniature “bio-incubator” which enables researchers to view living cells at ultra-high resolutions. The thing about live cells is that they need to be kept alive. Nanopoint developed the microfluidics controller technology as the lifesupport system for the cellTRAY. The controller regulates the temperature in the bio-incubator, manages the delivery of nutrients in extremely small quantities and flow rates (microliters per second), enables the delivery of small amounts of drugs, and removes metabolic waste from the living cells. The design is a visual bridge to Nanopoint’s other products. The black and white colors provide a strong tie-in to microscope products found in labs.
