The site is located on top of a hill, providing ample views of Mount Diablo and the surrounding hills and valleys. The open floor plan allows for seamless transitions between spaces and connects the house's core with floor-to-ceiling curved glass walls that wrap around the inner courtyard, offering views through the main living spaces to the outside landscape. Deep overhangs protect the interiors from the intense summer sun. The project involves adding a new wing to an existing single-story house, with the new two-story structure positioned at an acute angle to the original house. This creates an engaging shared space that connects with the outdoor landscape and distant views. The new wing houses the kitchen, dining, and media room on the ground level, while the primary bedroom suite above captures views of the surrounding hills. The new kitchen and dining area extend onto a spacious deck, creating an extension of the living space and connecting with the adjacent wing. A separate guest suite is tucked into the hillside downhill from the deck. The original wing was transformed into bedroom suites, and the garage is folded into the north end of the hillside.
