The number of small businesses in China, India, and other emerging markets is increasing exponentially. The Chinese government estimates there will be 43 million small businesses in China by 2020 and will account for 60% of China’s GDP. For small businesses, laser printers are a necessity and represent a large investment from initial purchase through ongoing replenishment of supplies. Cost constraints often force these small business owners to purchase and use alternatives to OEM supplies that are sub-standard and often lead to poor printer performance and health and environmental risks. HP’s design team researched and uncovered many wants, needs, fears, and opportunities for these users regarding toner replenishment. From these insights, HP developed a breakthrough design solution to address key challenges, enabling safe and efficient toner delivery at a reduced cost, while maintaining HP quality and reliability. The challenge was to facilitate a completely new user behavior. With the innovative HP Neverstop Toner Reload Kit, replenishing laser printer toner is fast, efficient, safe, and at a price that is comparable to OEM alternative supplies. It offers users a delightful toner replenishment experience and eliminates the need for toner cartridges—which introduce plastic and metal waste into the environment when disposed.
